Care & Aftercare

A suit is an investment

Treated well, a Centi Atelier suit will outlast the trend that inspired it.

Fine cloth and hand-construction reward care. The rules below are simple and they extend the life of a suit by years — sometimes decades.

Brushing

After every wear.

A natural-bristle clothes brush, downward strokes, after every wear. Removes dust before it settles into the weave. Two minutes per suit. The single most important habit.

Hanging

Wide wooden hangers. Always.

A proper wooden hanger with broad shoulders preserves the natural drape of the jacket. Avoid wire and thin plastic hangers — they distort the shoulder line. Hang trousers separately from the cuff or with a clip hanger.

Resting

Twenty-four hours between wears.

A suit should rest at least 24 hours between wears. The wool fibers need time to recover their structure. Rotate two or three suits to extend each one's life.

Dry cleaning

As rarely as possible.

Dry cleaning is harsh. Reserve it for actual stains or after long, sweat-heavy days. Most of the time, brushing and steaming are enough. When you do dry clean, use a clean-only-when-needed cleaner, never one that combines cleaning and pressing automatically.

Storage

Cedar, breathable garment bags, cool dark closets.

Off-season suits should be stored in breathable cotton garment bags in a cool, dark closet. Use cedar blocks (not mothballs) for natural protection. Never store in plastic — wool needs to breathe.
